Rosemary Moon wasn’t really the type to do her homework. She also was the type to prefer more practical classes - like Herbology and Potions – over those that dealt with spells. However, she had still practiced vividly in her dormroom to get just a tiny bit of light from her wand. The night before the next DADA class, she had finally been able to produce some light, even though it was as big as an ant. Yeah, the talent that Sofia had received with spells, hadn’t passed on to her. Sometimes, genes were just mean.

The fact that she hadn’t fully mastered the charm, wasn't bothering her. She had six more years to master it. It was the only class that she was actually quite excited, probably because it was the only one where the professor was shorter than her. Rosie was sure that there must have been at least two inches. Despite the short height of the new Professor for Defense Against The Dark Arts, the woman was scary – in the emotionless badass way – yet familiar. The young witch could have sworn that she had seen the face somewhere. Perhaps she had seen someone similar on one of her family’s business parties. Her family still had some hurt feelings towards Japanese people, but that wouldn’t interfere with doing business.

The human-like robot explained to them that they would be practicing to do the spell again– which wasn’t why she suddenly couldn’t stop wiggling on her chair. The excited part was how they were allowed to practice. They were allowed to play a game of hide & seek in the dark. As soon as the professor signaled the start of the assignment, Rosemary stood up while slapping her desk to receive the attention from her classmates near her. “Alright! Who is in for a fun game of hide & seek with yours truly?” A gummy smile welcomed anyone of her classmates to join her and go to one of the open classrooms to have some fun.

Harper still wasn’t quite sure what to make of the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. The woman barely looked older than some of the students and she had such a quiet voice. How was she going to teach them how to be fierce against the dark wizards, witches, and creatures of the world? Harper wasn’t suggesting that someone of the Professor’s stature couldn’t defeat any sort of bad person. Harper was small herself and she would never let herself be defeated by anyone if she could help it. It wasn’t the stuttering either that Harper questioned. Noah stuttered too, but she believed he could do anything he put his mind to it. She wasn’t quite sure what it was. Maybe her soft spoken-ness that suggested she wasn’t confident in her job?

She wasn’t sure what it was just yet, but Harper would put the Professor in the still assessing file until further notice. It had only been a week or so of classes, there was still plenty of time for Harper to understand the professor and what her capabilities were.

Like a good student, Harper had practiced the charms. She knew Lumos pretty well and nox was just fun to do. It hadn’t taken her long to get the hang of them. She kind of used Lumos like her own lightsaber and would have her own fight with some of the students in the school as she walked around. She probably could have found someone to have a fake fight with, but she didn’t know who knew Star Wars or who would just laugh at her and think she was being dumb. Either way, it was a fun game in her head for herself to imagine.

Harper took a seat in class and listened to the professor begin the lesson. She was always put off by the way the older woman spoke. Harper was used to people having excitement and other things in their tones of voices that pumped up the people around them. The staff here were usually hyped up when they discussed their lessons that day. She was not. It sounded like she didn’t care at all. Maybe that was what Harper found so off about her? It was a nagging feeling in the back of her mind that was annoying to her.

However, all thoughts about the weirdness of their professor went out the window when she said that they had the option to practice with her or play hide and seek. WHAT SORT OF CHOICE WAS THAT? Of course she was going to play hide and seek! Harper’s attention was caught by Rosie and a grin spread over her face. Harper’s hand went up, “Me! I want to play!” She answered her, jumping up to her feet quickly and nearly knocking her chair over in the process.

Sacha remained just as deadpan as the new professor had throughout the lesson. It was very easy magic to him. Sure, his Lumos wasn't the brightest, but if they were to play hide and seek then it may be for the best. That way, he could somehow sneak up on the hiders and scare them out of their wits. He listened, watching dully. The professor was a rather interesting woman. He recognized her from family conversations, and perhaps he had seen her or one of her relatives once before at fancy parties. Sacha tried to piece apart her voice and demeanor. Why is she the way she is? He listened to her voice drone. If it weren't for her intensity, he would almost find her lesson boring. However, her monotone probably had much better intentions than Sacha's. In that way, she seemed very vulnerable. Insecure. Behind that mask, the boy bet that she had plenty of insecurities. It was too bad that she didn't look like the younger age that she appeared to be, then perhaps he could investigate her more easily.

Eventually, they were given the go-ahead to start on one of the only interesting parts of Professor Yamaguchi's lesson apart from the professor herself: the hide-and-go-seek-game. The brunette glanced around for a group to join. Suddenly, the girl diagonal to him slapped her desk and rose to her feet. Sacha cringed at the sound. He recognized her as a Moon family heiress. How uncouth she was. Though at least she possessed enough kindness to allow others to join... until the image was destroyed, referring to herself as 'yours truly'. Yours truly? It wasn't cute at all, Sacha found. Someone was a little full of themselves. But then again, what twelve-year-old wasn't? Most of his peers seemed to be overly confident on the outside. Especially those pesky Wampus girls. One of them - a curly-haired one Sacha couldn't remember meeting yet - joined the Thunderbird girl with an equally-sickening level of cheer. Sacha was disgusted not only by their happiness, but by his temptation to actually stand up, too.

Should he do it? No one else seemed to be offering for him to join their games, and sticking with the 'leftovers' wouldn't push him to the top of the class like he wanted. He grumbled internally. The frail second-year rose to his feet slowly, his chair barely sliding back with his weak stance. Sacha's knees quivered briefly. A pale, shaky hand rose by his bony shoulder. "I will," Sacha's voice sounded calmly. There were several things that he could do (and get away with) in the dark. His lips quirked into an uneasy-looking smirk that could easily be misconstrued as nerves. Heheh. This would be very fun.

OOC: I love this lesson, so please don't misunderstand - Sacha is the one who thinks that it is somewhat boring, not me. <3 Also, he won't be doing anything drastic or terribly mean to them.

Jacob had kept to himself in classes, unsure of what to make of the other students from the other houses. Just like earning the trust of any animal, one must wait patiently and observe first. Or be forced into introductions and acceptance by an Alpha, just as his cousin did to present him to his fellow housemates after the sorting ceremony. Classes were different, he was alone to find his own friends and the pecking order within them. It wasn't likely he would be high on the order anyways and people didn't always respond as well to him as the animals did. Jacob didn't dare tell anyone that his birthday just passed, likely leaving him the oldest kid in the first year, as he didn't want the attention.

Casting the spells during today's lesson wouldn't be difficult for the twelve year old boy, as he'd had years of practice with a simple stick, mastering the movements required for a number of upcoming spells in school. That was half the battle. And he did have a good teacher, who seemed to have far more confidence than the professor they had at the school. He did have concerns that she may not be taken seriously, or would lose control of the class one day, but perhaps he was stuck on a pack mentality where it was completely unnecessary.

Jacob was a little startled by the one girl's excitement, Rosie, if he remembered correctly. Then another girl jumped in, also eager to play the game. Harper, he was sure he remembered hearing. They both seemed really nice, though he had avoided direct contact with them. The third student suggesting he would join the pair, seemed quite ill. Jacob couldn't place the boy's name. He really didn't know what to make of the other student.
The first year, slowly moved from his seat and made his way towards the trio. Hide and seek in the dark really did sound like fun.
"Could I join, too?" He asked sheepishly.

One of her best friends wanted to join, which was evident in the way the shorter witch almost “Great Harper!” Rosemary couldn’t help giggle with excitement to know that she was able to play hide & seek with her friend after an awful, yet funny summer. She quickly hugged the Wampus out of excitement. Her entire posture could tell that she was cheerful and way too excited to play a simple game like. She wasn’t even able to do the spell properly. However, no obstacle would stop her to do something fun during class. The second person to join was a semi-familiar face. She hadn’t yet talked to the boy but knew his name and house. Mainly, because he was the younger brother of former Mr. President. Sacha said that he would join in a way that was totally contrasting to how Harper and she were talking.

Great, Sacha, right?” she welcomed him to the little group, “ I’m Rosie Moon. I don’t think we talked before.” The girl did a little wave before getting distracted by another boy that wanted to join. This boy seemed to be one of the first years, as he wasn’t present in their class before. The first year didn’t seem all that confident when asking if he could join. So, Rosemary patted him on the shoulder like the tough girl she pretended to be. “Of course! Anyone is allowed to join. What is your name? I would like to know my competition,” she winked at him, trying to be as welcome as possible, “Like I told, Sacha. I’m Rosie Moon.

Rosemary looked at each person of the quartet, before deciding that they had enough people for a fun game. Anyone could always join them at any moment. “Let’s head to the classroom!” she said cheerfully, as she led the group to one of the big classrooms that were filled with furniture to hid behind, underneath or inside. “ The person who’s the seeker should give us 60 seconds to hide… I’ll be the first seeker,” she suggested so that the game could quickly begin, “Does everyone agree?

Thought that Rosie would lead the group to the other classroom. If I have to change it, tell me :3
