Cal had been studying in the library, what felt like hours. Had he slept through his other classes? He had no idea really. He placed the scrying crystal back on his necklace, Cal hardly believed in the stuff that seers seemed to want you to. It had been a joke really, he'd just wanted to know how it was supposed to be done. He was strange that way, somethings just interested him, even if they were lame. He'd managed to get a few essays and other tasks done in that time too, maybe just a little of daydreaming about a certain someone. Tom had jokingly suggested that he should check out some motivational books on relationships, so that he could learn to actually ask someone out. Cal didn't really like his older brother's advice, especially considering how he had actually jumped off a diving board to impress a guy, when he couldn't actually swim, and that was just the top of the iceberg.

He checked his timetable to make sure that it matched everything in his bag, he didn't exactly fancy going back to his dormitory if he'd forgotten something, mainly because he was too lazy to and because he had a lactic acid build up in his legs. Walking through deep snow always did that to him, his muscles seemed to just have a mind if their own and just thought: "Nope, we give up." But he'd been warned about this by some specialists, if he really did have Dyspraxia like they were suggesting, then it was just something that he would have to put up with, as the body got tired from the excessive amounts of energy it used up to try and control movements.

He feared that he may be late for class after his little nap in the library, Cal tried his best to hurry to class. Charms was one of Cal's favourite classes, and even though he was almost sick of hearing about the exams, he thought that it might be pretty cool, and a good way to meet some of the people in the years below.

Cal set his schoolbag down under one of the desks. "Aw damnit." In his rush to get to class, he hadn't noticed that an ink bottle was leaking in his bag and had almost completely destroyed it and his new shoes.

Reko as always was punctual to class and seated himself without making a fuss as to nearing friends or partners he favored. If that were the case, only perhaps a handful of his classmates would ever have the chance of seating next to him; two girls in more likelihood than others.

Instead the boy chose a random table, readied his notes and listened intently as the professor spoke. Charm practice. The lesson was going to be a physical one; the idea of gaining the chance to use higher level spells made the blue eyed boy grin. Already using spells meant for the fourth years, Reko was excited to try those of fifth. But first he'd need to find a willing classmate of that year to work with him. Not such an easy feat for the wizard unfortunately.

Distracting himself with creating his own list; the options were endless but given the teacher's words and the board already, Reko's passion was limited to those selected. Nevertheless he was going to make the most of it, writing down spells that were sure to be a challenge. 'Shortening to just six will be hard' His mind was rolling over it so intensely he hadn't paid attention to another occupant to his right until they spoke up. Blue eyes glanced to find the familiar face of Caleb Rowan. Circumstance be what they were suddenly played in the third year's favor.

The older teen was a fifth year; first feat succeeded. Caleb was also in his house which gave them a even field of understanding and Reko hoped would lead to the second task; partnership.

"Caleb" he said, nodding politely. "Do you have an issue?" It wasn't often Reko saw the other wizard in any distress but he seemed annoyed at something already. Class had only just begun.

"Ink bottle broke in my bag, and it leaked through the fabric." He had placed it in a pocket so that his books wouldn't be destroyed in the case of exploding ink bottles, sometimes he wished that it was possible to adapt his bag to allow him to transport anything he wanted without having to worry about breakage. "Tergeo." Cal pointed his wand at his shoes, he knew that the spell could siphon off other stains and he hoped that it would the same with the ink. He had been trying to learn house-hold charms, because his brother was useless at them, and would need as much help with them as possible, if they were officially going to be living together again over the summer.

Cal looked around the classroom, nearly everyone looked like they had some sort of partner, he didn't really have a preference as to who he worked with. "Want to team up for this assignment?" He had no way of judging how the whole idea would pan out.

His shoes looked a small bit better after his little job on them, at least now he was less likely to get ink everywhere now. Cal wasn't a clean freak, but he didn't like the idea of getting into trouble for leaving a trail behind him. He was pretty comfortable with the spells that were listed on the board.

Such were the risks of carrying ink wells in their bags. Reko could feel sympathy towards the older boy as he too had experienced the annoyance and unconventional consequences of such a thing. The third year learned very quickly to carry his liquid ink in an extra encasement so if a spill did occur again, it wouldn't stain his bag. There was nothing Reko could off in ways of assistance to Caleb, the fifth perhaps knowing more than he did.

"If you do not mind. I've been wanting to try my hand at many of these spells but never figured we would have a class exactly for it" he replied returning to his list that had dwindled in size. There was still much to consider as it was up to them both, collectively to create an agreed upon 6 spells to practice. "Do you have any preference to the list on the board? Or are you willing to attempt any?" truth be told Reko was keen to try the Silencing spell and the Summoning charm. A few others were desirable but those two were his focus for the day. Of course the Banishing charm would accompany the latter just for experience purposes.

"How is your hand at Fire-making and Levitation?" Reko asked calmly wondering if he should bother writing those down too.

Cal had no idea why he had forgotten to put the ink somewhere better than where he had. "I don't like playing with fire much. Brings back bad memories." He knew what fire could do all too well, in a fit of rage against his grandparents, he'd actually almost set fire to house. "Ugh yeah, fire and me don't get a long." Cal felt hungry and took a snack out of his lunchbox, despite being in a boarding school he often carried around that sort of thing, for that very reason. "Want some?" He asked offering some Sour patch kids to Reko.

"I don't mind practicing fire-making spells, if that's what you want to do though." He paused for a second as he savored the sweets. "Oh, have you never tried doing any of the more advanced spells outside class?" It was a genie question, Cal tried out some spells that were supposed to be covered later in the year of school, some had varying results. "I'm fine with Levitation too." The list was going to be hard to work around, there were somethings that weren't on the lists that could come in really handy in a pickle.

"What about trying out the Stunning charm and the Silencing charm? Uh, I kind of need a small bit of improvement with those two, and I guess now's the best chance it to do that." If there were any more spells that they thought of at any point they could probably add them to the list if they really needed to.

Whatever influenced the older wizard to start eating in the middle of class, Reko wasn't sure. He also however didn't want to partake in any of the odd looking stuff and politely declined as best his could. The third year was still piecing together his final list in mind for the class. Fire spells weren't a needed practice for Reko; he could do so in duel class or in a private session but it was an offered idea nonetheless.

"If you don't wish to practice them I wont say more" Reko replied casually. "This is a joint agreement of spells we're both to perform; not a singular wish list. Levitation, Stunning and Silencing I'm more than comfortable testing myself with. The Summoning charm should be another"

So far the list was up to four. They just needed two more to create the required six given by the professor. Reko wondered if there was any others he and Caleb wouldn't mind testing themselves on. The board housed a varying range but nothing was jumping out at him per say.

"The Freezing I've mastered already, the Banishing charm could be an accompanying one to the Summon; it is useful to practice a counter. I have no desire however to do such as Tickling, Cheering nor Mending. They require no challenge" Reko felt he needed to be clear on the fact he wasn't like his fellow third years. He'd spent many hours in self practice and dueling matches using spells above his academic school year. But he wasn't arrogant enough to tell the older boy what they should and would be doing.

"Do you have any others you wish to test yourself on?"

"Not hungry." Cal stated it as more of a fact than a question, that seemed to be the only time anyone turned down an offered gift, even if said gift was a sweet. "Ok, then." He withdrawing his offer from Reko, just as the younger boy declined. It was hard to think of anything overly useful, when he was starving, sometimes his body ran through enough sugar to leave him craving more food than was good to eat on the daily.

"It wouldn't really be very helpful to try some of the spell work for the sixth year and above, considering how none them would actually give us any sort of credit." Cal had been reading up on some of them, and could somewhat do the Water-making spell, truth be told, he been a little nervous to try anything else. "No those spells are fine, well excluding the fire ones." Cal took out his old beat up notebook and flipped through it, hoping that some sort of idea would pop out at him.

"The Seize and Pull charm would be useful, it would complement the Levitation charm in some way." That would bring the list to five, that type of stuff wasn't his forte. Cal liked doing things without a set list of things to follow. "What about the Memory Charm, extremely useful in most situations, but disastrous if you get it wrong." He always found that one fun, though he knew that not everyone would be comfortable with it.

They'd come to an agreement on the total 6 spells they were going to practice. They were varying in level of difficulty, as to not create boredom but also a slight test of skills. If Reko did find himself in a little trouble, Caleb was sure to offer his experience in a way to be helpful. Placing the newly written parchment between them it was clear to see:

List of Charm Spells:
Levitation,
Stunning,
Silencing,
Summoning,
Seize and Pull,
Memory Charm

"This will work very well" Reko said while collecting his wand. He wasn't sure where to begin but it was a list. Starting from the top was practical and logical. Caleb could start how he pleased; so long as both wizards completed the spells on their list then it would be a class effectively taught. Placing one of his many books (light reading) before him on the desk, Reko cast the first spell with ease. The book rose slightly into the air before opening itself and slowly skimming through the pages as though there was an actual reader.

There was more of a challenge to it if the dark haired boy had decided to charm another object from further away and bring it over, Summoning effectively before levitation but that felt almost cheating. This was about practice and familiarizing with the spells. This wasn't a competition nor a race. Finally lowering the book after it had turned all its pages, Reko turned his attention onto his partner for whatever the wizard felt like trying next.

Cal smiled down at the list, everything seemed simple enough, its contents wasn't likely to be one of those experiments that could backfire too badly. Well, if you could technically call it an 'experiment', really it was just a group of spells that may or may not go well together, it be too disastrous. "We can probably switch out spells if some of these don't work out." Cal made that suggestion as an afterthought, but he didn't know if it was needed or not. "That way there should be another list made up of failed spells which can be practiced later or something." He folded his arms, as he made the suggestion, for him the list would be extremely helpful for him, it would at least give him something to work o for the exams.

Cal collected an old alarm clock off one of the shelves and began to wind it up, until it began to go off. His aim was to get a sort of bell jar experiment kind of result if judged everything right and also placed the glass covering in the right place. The Summoning charm would have been easier than what he had planned, but thinking creatively, then maybe going with the unexpected Seize and Pull charm was a surprising way to go about it.

He went through with his tricky plan, almost without a hitch, the only problem was that he hadn't taken into account the thickness of the glass and how that would work with the Silencing charm. He kind of shrugged it off, it wasn't really too much of a problem, the Silencing charm was one of those spells that he was normally comfortable with, he'd just made a slight miscalculation.
