Welcome to Ilvermorny

This is Atop Mount Greylock, a modern day Ilvermorny rpg. At Greylock, we ignore the existence of the characters of Harry Potter and create all original characters so that we can be free to play in the world created by our Queen, JKR.

Special Character Spots at Ilvermorny:
Werewolves -- CURRENTLY CLOSED
Veelas -- CURRENTLY CLOSED
Seers -- CURRENTLY CLOSED
Metaphorphaguses -- CURRENTLY CLOSED

Special characters:

Any author who wants to write a special character or someone with a special ability must get special approval from the admin-team. Other special characters an author has will be taken into consideration during the approval process unless the characters are related and thus share a genetic trait (e.g. part veela).

Special characters include: vampires, werewolves, veelas, seers, metaphorphaguses, and any other character which would be rare in the magical world.

[*]We will only accept one special character from each category at the school at a time with the exception of a relative who shares a genetic quality (e.g. part veelas). Please check below to see if there are spots available.
[*]In Harry Potter vampires did not have wands. You may write a vampire but they will not be allowed to perform magic.
[*]We will not be accepting any full veelas younger than Professor McGonagall.

Special abilities include Animagi, Legilimens, Occlumens, Wandless Magic or full patronus manifestations and use of non-verbal magic prior to advanced classes.
  • Non-verbal magic is learned during 6th year courses, and requires study and concentration. It's possible for your character to learn said ability early, but it's not something that comes easily. It also is often less effective than verbal magic.
  • Wandless magic is a rare ability and very difficult to master. It's unrealistic for a student to be able to do so without intense training--if at all. This type of magic may still be used in Native American wizarding communities as wands were brought over by European Wizards. Charms and transfiguration are difficult to pull off without a wand.
  • The optional sample post is required in the application of a special character.
  • Learned abilities take awhile to learn. As such, a character who wishes to acquire a special ability they must find an established character (can be a pre-existing NPC if a main character isn't available) to teach them. 5 lesson threads must take place before obtaining permission from the admin-team.
  • Minimum ages to start the learning process for: Animagus (16), Legilimens (16), Occlumens (16)
  • We will not be accepting parseltongues. In Harry Potter there were only two parseltongues, Harry and Voldemort. Harry could only speak with snakes because he had a part of Voldemort's soul inside him.

Special Abilities need to be approved prior to any plot you wish to have for your character. If you are applying to the site and want your character to have a special abilities, please put the ability into your application with a background as to how the ability came about and why. It is important for us to know that the reason is developed in a way that would make sense to the character and not simply because ‘you thought it would be cool’.

If we find that you are writing your character with a special ability that was not approved, we will enforce our three strike rule.

Please note that special characters are different than special abilities. For information on special characters such as Seer, please read above

Here is a list of special abilities:

Animagus
Legilimency
Occulmency
Wandless magic
Nonverbal magic before Advanced lessons
Magical resistance (having a certain degree of immunity against hexes and spells – this is not to say that characters cannot show some control through willpower, but it would be strenuous and difficult depending on the situation)

**Apparation and Disapparation are learned abilities that are taught beginning in their 6th year. They cannot take any exams for Apparation until they are 17 years of age. Not all students will pass on their first go with the exam, so please keep that in mind, but most students will likely have their license sometime within their 7th year should they decide to take the exam.**
